2. Summary
FarmEnglish does not sell personal data and does not use data for third-party advertising or tracking. Most learning progress and settings remain on the device. Optional online features transmit the information described below to provide their functionality.
3. Information Processed
Data kept on the device
The app stores learning progress, saved vocabulary, words and example sentences the user creates, game settings, local achievements, reminder preferences, and other gameplay state on the device. If the user uses an AI-assisted suggestion while creating or studying a word, text used for that request may be sent as described below. Users should not enter personal or sensitive information about themselves or others in custom text fields.
Online profiles, leaderboards, and Battle Mode
FarmEnglish uses Google Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore for online features. The app may create an anonymous authentication session and process:
- An anonymous account/player identifier and an optional nickname
- Progress and leaderboard values such as XP, level, coins, score, wins, losses, streaks, harvest, puzzle, SesYap, quiz, and practice scores
- Online gameplay and matchmaking information such as participant nicknames/identifiers, room or queue records, match status, scores, questions and answer options, selected answers, correctness/timing records, and in-game reactions
Nickname and ranking information may be visible to other users through leaderboards or multiplayer screens. These records are used for app functionality, rankings, matchmaking, and online gameplay.
SesYap voice practice
If a user chooses voice practice and grants microphone permission, the voice sample is sent to Google Cloud Speech-to-Text for transcription and pronunciation evaluation. The app deletes its temporary local recording after processing or when the voice flow is exited. Results and related scores may remain locally and, when an online profile exists, score values may be synchronized to Firebase.
AI-assisted word features
If the user chooses an AI-assisted word suggestion or study recommendation, the entered word or text and relevant study context may be sent to OpenAI, or another AI service used to provide that feature, to generate the requested suggestion. This may include an optional nickname and information about words the user is practicing.
Notifications
Daily reminders are scheduled on the device after permission is granted. The app stores reminder scheduling and language preferences locally for this purpose.
4. Service Providers
- Google Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore: anonymous authentication, online profiles, leaderboards, matchmaking, and battle gameplay data
- Google Cloud Speech-to-Text: transcription of audio submitted through SesYap
- OpenAI or another AI processing service used for the feature: only when the user chooses AI-assisted suggestions or recommendations
Google privacy information is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
5. Retention and Deletion
Local data can be removed by resetting app data or uninstalling the app, subject to operating-system backup behavior. Online profile, leaderboard, or gameplay data is not removed merely by uninstalling the app and may be retained while necessary to operate the features, prevent abuse, preserve rankings, or meet legal obligations. Requests to access, correct, or delete online data may be sent to the contact email above, including the nickname or player identifier where available.
6. User Choices
Microphone access and notifications are optional and can be changed through device settings. Users can avoid voice-audio transfer by not using SesYap and avoid multiplayer processing by not using online features.
7. International Processing and Updates
Online service providers may process information outside the user's country under their applicable safeguards. This policy may be updated as functionality or processing practices change.
